A man was recently arrested in Rochester under accusations that he committed drug crimes. A search of his home and personal property allegedly yielded over 100 grams of methamphetamine. The 27-year-old Minnesota man now faces multiple drug charges stemming from the investigation.
According to the authorities, the incident began around 8:30 a.m. when they executed a search warrant for the man’s residence. It is unclear what prompted the authorities to obtain the search warrant. Regardless, the authorities claim that when they arrived at the residence, the man left the home and entered his vehicle. Apparently, the SE Minnesota Narcotics Task Force then obtained a second warrant to allow them to search the man’s vehicle.
When they searched the vehicle, the authorities claimed to have found 103 grams of methamphetamine, and the drugs were supposedly packaged in such a way that they could be resold. The investigating officers also suspect that a person smoked the illegal drug in the man’s garage, but whatever information led them to make the accusation is not clear. A woman and her two teenage children also live in the same residence, and the authorities are investigating their potential involvement.
The man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine over 25 grams, sale of methamphetamine over 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. While the man faces serious drug charges, the burden of proof lies with Minnesota prosecutors. Furthermore, any evidence presented by the prosecution must be found to be both competent and relevant before the evidence can be ruled admissible during the man’s trial. Even so, the man will have every opportunity to defend against the accusations in court.
