Criminal law: Minnesota man facing multiple charges

On Behalf of | Apr 15, 2016 | Criminal Defense

The allegations that come from being suspected of criminal activity could leave an individual reeling. He or she may not fully understand what the charges mean or how they may be handled in a court setting. Therefore, when a person is facing such uncertainty, he or she may wish to find out information on certain aspects of criminal law that may pertain to the particular circumstances.

One man in Minnesota is likely considering learning more about his legal predicament after recently being arrested. Reports stated that the charges stem from a purported domestic incident in which the man reportedly attempted to set a tractor, a dirt bike and his son on fire. Apparently, the man was upset about a loan given to his son for buying the dirt bike. The father allegedly tried to light the gas tank of the bike on fire; he then purportedly attempted to use a gas container to light a tractor on fire before lighting a can of ether and spraying it at his son.

Police were alerted to the situation, and the man was taken into custody. He is currently facing felony charges for attempted arson and assault as well as a misdemeanor charge for domestic assault. He was also ordered to not have contact with the victims of the situation.

The allegations filed against the man, and the felony charges in particular, may be causing the man to feel concerned about his situation. In order to quell some of his worry, he may wish to find out information on Minnesota criminal proceedings and prepare for his case. If he wishes, consulting with an experienced attorney may also help him gain more insight on relevant areas of criminal law and what may be expected of him.
