Possession of firearm, murder charges filed in Minnesota

On Behalf of | Apr 8, 2016 | Violent Crimes, Violent Crimes

A recent incident in Minnesota has three men facing serious charges. Among those charges are illegal possession of firearm and murder. These allegations reportedly stem from a shooting that allegedly took place at a motel. Police were called to the scene after receiving a call about several gunshots being heard in a motel room. Authorities suspected that drug activity was involved.

A surveillance video reportedly showed three individuals leaving the scene after the shots apparently took place. One of those individuals was purportedly identified and taken into custody. That man allegedly stated that the shooting took place because another man thought money had been stolen from him. The man also purportedly stated that he heard the shots but that he and two others left the scene in a vehicle.

The man allegedly identified the shooter, and as a result, police searched the accused individual’s home. They reportedly found a gun matching the description of the one used to kill two men at the hotel. As a result, all three men that were inside the vehicle that left the scene were charged with murder, and one of the men is facing a charge for illegally possessing a firearm.

Each man charged in this situation will likely want to determine how he may effectively approach his case. The men may find different methods appropriate for how they want to handle the charges brought against them, and since only one was charged for possession of firearm, that man may have additional needs to address. Information on Minnesota criminal proceedings and legal options may help the individuals determine how to best move forward.
