Man charged after alleged sexual assault in Minnesota

On Behalf of | Jul 9, 2015 | Sex Crimes

Creating a meaningful criminal defense can have a considerable impact on a person’s legal situation. Parties who have been accused of alleged criminal activity will likely want to cater their defense to the specific circumstances of their cases. Therefore, an individual who has been charged with sexual assault may wish to assess his or her situation in order to determine the best tactics to utilize.

One man in Minnesota may be exploring his options after being taken into custody. It was reported that a woman contacted police after she allegedly woke to find a man in her apartment. She claimed that the man said that someone who did not live in the apartment let him in, and she told him to leave. The man reportedly did not leave and allegedly began to fight with the woman.

The situation purportedly escalated as the woman claimed that the man forced her to perform oral sex and have sexual intercourse. The man later reportedly left the apartment, and the woman reported the incident. The man was later located and questioned by police, but he stated that the woman invited him to her apartment and wanted to have sex. He also stated that the woman demanded money or she would tell the police that he had raped her. The man stated that he did not give the woman money and left.

As a result of the situation, the man was taken into custody. He is currently facing charges of criminal sexual conduct, burglary and kidnapping. These are all felony charges.

Facing sexual assault allegations is a more serious matter than that man will likely want to defend against. By gaining information on Minnesota criminal proceedings relating to sex crimes, he may be better able to understand what he will face as his case moves forward. He may also wish to discuss the situation with his legal counsel in order to determine which defensive options may work in his favor.
