Minnesota crash leads to DWI charges

Though is it not uncommon for drivers to be charged for drunk driving, each case is different. Therefore, if an individual has been charged with DWI, he or she may want to assess the specific details of the case in order to determine the best course of action. Criminal defense information is often useful to individuals as they work to create a meaningful presentation.

One woman in Minnesota may be gaining more knowledge on defense tactics after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the woman was driving an SUV when the vehicle left the road and crashed into an apartment building. Authorities arrived at the scene and suspected that the woman was under the influence after purportedly smelling an alcohol odor coming from the vehicle.

The woman allegedly had difficulty exiting her SUV and was not able to successfully complete field sobriety tests. It was also reported that the woman allegedly had a blood-alcohol level over four times the legal limit according to breath test results. As a result, the woman was charged with third-degree drunk driving and refusal to submit to a breath test. It was unclear when that refusal might have occurred.

In dealing with her case, having the right information could play a significant role in how the Minnesota woman chooses to prepare. Gathering information on the DWI charges themselves, as well as the potential mandatory penalties for the alleged breath test refusal and other related topics, could help her determine her most viable defense strategies. She may also wish to review her options and case details with her legal counsel for more insight.
