Wax: Illegal in Minnesota

Using or abusing drugs is a difficult habit to break, but it doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Trying drugs even a single time could result in your getting hooked, and it's important for people to realize the damage it has already done.

If you're caught using or selling it, wax is one drug that could get you into deep trouble with the law. It's a brown-colored drug made up of concentrated THC. THC is a cannabinoid, which comes from marijuana. The THC is the psychoactive substance in the plant, making it likely to cause hallucinations and other side effects.

Is wax a dangerous drug?

Wax is more dangerous than marijuana because of its increased potency. It causes intense highs and can lead to permanent brain damage or place individuals into a state of psychosis, depending on the purity of the drug. More dangerous is the risk of burns that accompanies heating the drug until it melts into an oil. This has to be done to inhale its vapors, but it can lead to injuries if someone is high and splashes the oil on his or her body.

Is wax illegal in all states?

No, and this is important. Wax is not illegal in Colorado or other states where marijuana is legal for recreational use. Despite this, it is illegal federally and in the state of Minnesota. Depending on where the drug came from, where you were when you were caught with it and how much of it you had in your possession, you could be in a good position to defend yourself against allegations. For instance, if you're caught with THC in your blood after a crash, you may not be able to be charged if you recently used wax while visiting Colorado.

Every situation is different, and your case's specific facts determine if you can be charged for a crime related to marijuana use.
