Criminal law: Minnesota man facing charges for assault, murder

On Behalf of | Sep 11, 2015 | Criminal Defense

At times, situations can escalate more quickly than expected. An individual may suddenly lose his or her temper and react in a manner that he or she may not have under other circumstances. Unfortunately, these situations could result in individuals becoming seriously or fatally injured and other parties facing charges. If an individual has been accused of a crime, he or she may want to find out more criminal law information relating to his or her situation.

One man in Minnesota may be taking such steps after he was taken into custody. It was reported that the man had allegedly been watching his girlfriend’s son when the boy apparently urinated on him. In a note reportedly left by the man, he said that he lost his temper and began hitting the boy’s head on the floor.

The boy’s mother found her son and the note when she returned from work. The boy was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries that purportedly required life support. He was apparently taken off life support and died as a result of the injuries. The situation led to the man being taken into custody, and he is currently facing charges of murder, assault and other allegations.

The charges leveled against the man in this Minnesota case could lead to severe consequences if he is convicted. However, the man does have the opportunity to create a defense against the allegations. If he wishes to do so, he may find it helpful to gather more information on criminal law that relates to his case as well as discuss his situation with his legal counsel.
