Man charged with sex crime acquitted

When Minnesota readers hear news of criminal charges related to sex crimes, the coverage is almost universally focused on the initial report of the arrest and charges that were filed. Unfortunately, that is where the story ends for many readers, unless the case ends in a particularly newsworthy sentence or verdict. What many people fail to realize is that a large number of sex crime charges are dropped before they reach trial, or end in an acquittal.

Minnesota Supreme Court candidate on trial for DUI

Everyone make mistakes, no matter our level of education, type of employment or socioeconomic standing. Even those among us who have risen to the highest levels within our career field or hold positions of high social standing are not perfect. When an error in judgment is made, it is often the way that we respond that defines the "type" of person that we are. An example is found in the case of a Minnesota attorney who is in the running for a seat on the state's Supreme Court as she battles a DUI charge.

Minnesota woman claims she was forced into prostitution

In a moment of stress, such as being confronted by a police officer, a person might blurt out something that is not necessarily true -- such as incriminating evidence against another person. Partly because of this, there is a high burden of proof required to secure a guilty conviction in a Minnesota criminal court. In many cases, one person's testimony may not be enough. However, two people were recently arrested after a woman accused them of forcing her into prostitution.

Methamphetamine found in garage, man faces felony charges

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested after the Crookston authorities executed a search warrant on his residence. The Minnesota authorities claim that they found a felony amount of methamphetamine in the man's premises. He now faces charges of first-degree possession, as well as sale of a controlled substance.
