Minnesota man facing DUI and other charges related to accident

On Behalf of | Aug 15, 2014 | Drunk Driving

A Minnesota man was recently arrested in Hennepin County in connection with a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred earlier this month. Charges against this individual include DUI, vehicular homicide and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. All of these charges carry stiff penalties under state laws, should they ultimately result in a criminal conviction.

The accused, a 37-year-old St. Paul man, allegedly struck a pedestrian with a Midwest Cable TV truck and then fled the scene. The pedestrian was reportedly crossing the intersection against the traffic light at the time of the accident. Sadly, the 56-year-old male, died of his injuries a short time later at a local hospital.

Police located the truck believed to have been involved in the accident over a mile away from the accident site. A breath test and field sobriety test were administered. According to police records, the breath test supposedly showed that this individual’s blood alcohol content was more than two times the legal limit. The driver was arrested and bail was recently set at $60,000.

According to Minnesota court records, this individual has been convicted of alcohol-related DUI four times. Despite his previous convictions, the accused is guaranteed the presumption of innocence and the right to defend himself against these current charges in a court of law. The ability to gain full access to the evidence offered, as well as carefully reviewing the specific circumstances of the incident may bring to light important facts regarding this case. Utilizing a criminal defense team may provide valuable insight to the situation at hand, allowing this individual to make the best legal decisions concerning his specific circumstances.
