Woman arrested during prostitution raid

A Minneapolis massage parlor was recently the target of a police raid. The authorities suspected that the building was being used as part of a prostitution operation. The Minnesota law enforcement officers arrested one 48-year-old woman resulting from the raid.

The investigation began in early February when the North Branch Police Department began to receive complaints about the business. Those who filed complaints were left anonymous, but they purportedly stated that a large quantity of male customers frequented the business. The authorities searched a social media website, and they allegedly found ads for the business with “sexually provocative” pictures of women in lingerie.

The North Branch Police Department teamed up with the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and the East Central Drug and Violent Offender Task Force to obtain a search warrant for the business and to conduct the raid. Whatever evidence they purportedly uncovered during the raid is entirely unclear. Regardless, the officers placed a woman under arrest on very serious criminal accusations. The woman faces a felony charge of second-degree solicitation and promotion of prostitution.

Perhaps the most troubling aspect of this case is what seems to be an initial lack of incriminating evidence that could link the woman to the alleged prostitution operation. In Minnesota, no conviction of any criminal charge can be obtained without the presentation of evidence that is both competent and relevant. Furthermore, as the woman begins to form her Minnesota criminal defense, she would do well to keep the presumed lack of evidence in mind as she attempts to form a defense that she feels will be to her benefit.
