3 accused of being associated with theft, arson and murder case

On Behalf of | May 6, 2015 | Criminal Defense

After the tragic deaths of a married couple, three individuals have been arrested and accused of being associated with their deaths. The couple died in a fire that consumed their home, and the three Minnesota individuals have been accused of theft as well as arson. Two of the three also face murder accusations.

At 9 a.m. on April 30, emergency responders arrived at the couple’s home, but it was too late to save the 75-year-old husband and 71-year-old wife. The precise cause of each death has not yet been officially determined, and the investigation is ongoing. The police have yet to release any specific information concerning possible motives or scenarios of what could have happened that morning.

Whatever led the police to suspect the three individuals, ages 18, 20 and 21, is unclear. If remains to be seen if prosecutors will assert that the murders occurred during the course of a burglary gone wrong. The accused individuals are currently in police custody awaiting formal charges.

Many details of the Minnesota case have yet to fall into place, and the focus of each person arrested must now turn to the specifics of the accusations. As the investigation continues, the three individuals will have the opportunity to gather knowledge pertaining to their cases in order to prepare criminal defenses against the theft, arson and murder accusations, as applicable. As evidence is gathered, they will have every opportunity to refute any allegations advanced by the prosecution. Alongside legal counsel, they each have every right to offer evidence in defense of the accusations and in furtherance of individual interests during the criminal proceedings.
