Minnesota man charged after alleged incident with deadly weapon

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2015 | Violent Crimes

When an argument breaks out between individuals, it is possible that the confrontation could escalate into a serious matter. If weapons are involved and an individual is hurt or killed, a party could face charges relating to the use of a deadly weapon. In such a case, the accused individual will likely want to find out more on defensive strategies that could prove useful during legal proceedings.

One 18-year-old man in Minnesota may be hoping to better understand his predicament after recently being charged. It was reported that the charges stem from an alleged shooting that took place over the Fourth of July weekend. Apparently, the 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were in two separate groups and purportedly began to argue. The 18-year-old allegedly shot the 16-year-old and another individual during the reported altercation.

Police officers were alerted to the alleged incident as they were doing foot patrol. They reportedly heard gunshots and saw people running from an area. The purported event resulted in the 16-year-old boy dying from a gunshot wound to the head, and a 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The 18-year-old suspect has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Charges relating to an incident allegedly involving a deadly weapon will likely be taken seriously by the man. In order to handle his case, he may want to ensure that he understands the charges levied against him and his options for defending against those allegations in Minnesota court. Furthermore, he may find discussing his state of affairs with his legal counsel a wise step to take.
