Understanding legal options can make a considerable difference when individuals have allegations leveled against them. Having the proper knowledge could potentially mean the difference between receiving certain penalties or contesting accusations in an effective manner. Charges relating to drug crime are very serious allegations that could lead to prison time or other punishments, and a man and a woman in Minnesota may be hoping to avoid such outcomes.
It was recently reported that the two individuals were taken into custody after police searched their home. It was unclear why authorities searched the residence in the first place. Nonetheless, the search allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, glass pipes and other purported drug paraphernalia. Police also reportedly found propane torches and a box of ammunition. It was not mentioned whether a firearm was also found.
The man and woman are both facing charges for possession of methamphetamine. The man was reported as being 42 years old and apparently has a previous felony conviction for burglary. As a result, he is facing an additional charge for being in possession of ammunition as a felon. It was noted that if they are convicted of the drug charges, they could potentially face up to 20 years in jail.
In order to prepare for their legal cases the man and woman may want to find out more information on the charges brought against them. Additionally, they may wish to become more knowledgeable on how the Minnesota criminal justice system handles drug crime cases in order to better understand what proceedings each may encounter. If they feel it could benefit them, they may each consider consulting with separate legal counsel to determine strategies and defense options.
