Sex crime: Minnesota man accused of abusing young girl

On Behalf of | Mar 10, 2016 | Sex Crimes

According to recent reports, a Minnesota man was charged with multiple felony offenses. The charges relate to an alleged sex crime in which the man purportedly sexually abused a 4-year-old girl. Authorities were reportedly first alerted to the potential abuse in 2014 after a social worker noticed a mark on the child’s neck. During an examination, the child allegedly stated that the man touched her while she was sleeping.

The girl purportedly had additional exams, and she reportedly stated further that the man had touched his genitals to hers. Reports also indicated that a test revealed that the child had chlamydia, which apparently meant that the child had come in contact with a person already carrying the infection. Authorities apparently felt this result supported the child’s claims of abuse.

The 28-year-old man was summoned to court on charges relating to criminal sexual conduct. The man failed to appear for the first court hearing, but it was later learned that he had been incarcerated due to a conviction for separate charges. The charges that have been leveled against him relating to the alleged sexual abuse could result in prison terms for a maximum of 30 years if he is convicted.

The felony charges against him are undoubtedly worrisome for the man. As a result, he will likely want to find out what legal avenues for creating and presenting a criminal defense may best suit his case. Additionally, he may want to gain more knowledge on how the Minnesota criminal justice system addresses sex crime allegations in order to potentially better prepare for his case.
