Juvenile crimes: Minnesota teen facing felony charges

When a juvenile has been accused of a crime, his or her parents may feel at a loss concerning how to handle the predicament. Juvenile crimes may be addressed differently than charges brought against an adult; therefore, the parents may hope to determine how certain defense strategies could affect the case. Information on their options may help them decide how to move forward.

The parents of a 17-year-old boy in Minnesota my be hoping to find the best course of action due to charges recently being brought against the boy. Reports stated that the boy had been driving a vehicle and allegedly participating in a "Nerf Wars" game alongside another vehicle. The boy and a passenger in his vehicle were purportedly following the other vehicle and did not stop at a stop sign. As a result, their vehicle crashed into another car.

Two individuals in the vehicle that was hit suffered injuries that required hospitalization. As a result, the 17-year-old driver was recently charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation, which is considered a felony. It was not disclosed whether the boy and/or his parents had obtained legal representation.

Dealing with juvenile crimes is often a sensitive subject, as a conviction could greatly impact the young person's life. Therefore, parents undoubtedly want to be vigilant in the criminal defense preparation relating to their child's case. Specific concerns may be addressed by an experienced Minnesota defense attorney if a family would like to consult with a legal professional.
